The Calgary Therapy Institute located in the community of Lake Bonavista, offers specialized, comprehensive assessments and therapy. Our professional team provides services for children, teens, and adults across the lifespan. We are a trauma-focused, client-centred practice that values equity, diversity and inclusive care for all population groups. In a complex and ever changing world, we seek to understand our clients and their unique needs.

Dr. Patricia Miller, RCSW, PhD (Behavioural and Social Sciences), Psy.D (clinical psychology), MSW, M.A clinical psychology,
Registered Psychologist, Certified Mediator/Negotiator and Addictions Specialist
Patricia Miller brings a wealth of experience to The Calgary Therapy Institute. She has completed a master’s degree in Social Work, a Master of Counselling Psychology, successfully defended her PhD. in Behavioural and Social Sciences in 2018 from Tilburg University in the Netherlands and she successfully completed her clinical psychology degree (Psy. D), through Calsouthern University in November, 2023. She is a Registered Psychologist in the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia, and a Registered Clinical Social Worker in the province of Alberta.

Marie Sutherby, M.Ed
Marie has been fortunate to work and train in public and rural schools and a not-for-profit agency providing assessment, consultation, and intervention services. Marie approaches her work utilizing a collaborative and strength-based perspective in order to help children, adolescents, and their families understand and overcome challenges.

Ka Wing Lai, M.Ed., B.Sc.
Ka Wing completed her Masters in Counselling Psychology at the University of Alberta and holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Calgary. Curious with a fondness for learning, Ka Wing is passionate in collaborating with clients to bring in strategies and techniques that support their unique experiences and values. Her prior training and work in a non-profit setting allowed her to support clients of different ages, backgrounds, and concerns such as anxiety, stress, trauma, shame, and depression.

Valerie Fleury,

Valerie holds a Master of Counselling Psychology with Honours and an undergraduate degree in Social Work. She leads her work with the belief that we are better together. Valerie creates a trauma-informed space for individuals, couples, and families to cultivate courage, connection, and momentum through action.

Chang completed her doctoral coursework in the CPA-accredited clinical psychology program at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver (BC), as well as an APA-accredited pre-doctoral clinical psychology internship at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago (IL).

Paul Welch,
M.A.
Paul is a Registered Provisional Psychologist who specializes in Adult ADHD. Prior to working in mental health, Paul had a 20-year career in the performing arts. He holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, a BA in Psychology and Philosophy and a BFA in Acting. Paul also works as an educator, coach, 2SLGBTQ+ activist, and certified Embodied Awareness Facilitator.

Paul Lapointe,
MSW, RSW
Paul has a range of experience working in emergency services as a paramedic for 10 years, in education as a teacher for 7 years and now as a mental health therapist for nearly 10 years. This varied experience has allowed Paul to develop expertise in working with trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic pain among other mental health areas of concern.

Sara Pun, MEd, MMT, MTA, RCC, CCC
Sara is a Registered Provisional Psychologist and a certified music therapist. She is also a Canadian certified counselor and a Registered Clinical Counselor in British Columbia. She has over 10 years of experience in the mental health field in various roles in Canada and abroad.

With over 18 years of experience as a middle school educator, her extensive work with adolescents and their families has provided valuable insights that inform her therapeutic approach.

Lindsay holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology and brings 20 years of experience as a Physical Training Instructor with the Calgary Police Service. In this role, she delivers strength and conditioning, health, and wellness programming to first responders in high-performance and high-stress environments. She has supported recruits and officers through all stages of their careers, helping them build physical resilience, manage occupational stress, and develop sustainable health habits.

Kathryn Conway

Kathryn’s counselling approach is client-centred, trauma-informed, and neurodivergent-affirming, supporting children, teens, and adults. Many families connect with her for insight around learning needs, ADHD, autism, and school-related stress. In her work with children, she frequently uses play-based counselling and caregiver coaching to ensure strategies
carry into home and school. Adults may seek support with life challenges and changes,
depression, anxiety, and coping with difficult or traumatic situations.

Tanja Stipanovic is an experienced professional with 10 years of supervision and administrative experience with different organizations.
Sarah is a master's-level student in Counselling Psychology with a medical background. Her approach to therapy is trauma-informed and client-centered.

Molly is a Master of Counselling student, and previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences from Queen’s University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta. This experience strengthened Molly’s ability to simplify solutions to complex problems, as well as her understanding of the unique challenges associated with occupational stress, high-performance, perfectionism, and major life transitions.
As a counsellor, Molly is committed to creating a compassionate, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and supported.

Dawson Warman graduated summa cum laude in Psychology from St. Mary's University. In his honours research, Dawson conducted a nationally representative survey of the Canadian population to examine models of intrinsic motivation and their correspondence to exercise behaviour.
