Summer Institute:
 
The Role of Self-Determining Psychological Practices with Traumatic Impact, PTSD and other Concurring Mental Health Concerns

The main objective of this comprehensive senior-level intensive training is to deep dive into complex trauma across the lifespan. This week-long training series will be an integrative approach with a focus on Dr. Miller’s research, practice and teaching which engages assessment, treatment, ongoing care and managing legal and other collaborative relationships around traumatic impact.
The teaching will be in-classroom, with education components, cases-studies, ongoing case simulation work, and group discussions- with opportunities to have continued supervision of cases and treatment processes.

Main topics will include:


1. Theory, ethics and practice application; trauma across the lifespan
2. Assessment and the psychological spaces traumatic impact can be found
3. Family of origin: complex trauma within the family system experiences
4. 1st. Responder Traumatic Impact: Assessment and Therapeutic Alliance
5. Traumatic Impact across of the lifespan
6. Different Therapeutic approaches: EMDR, ART, Exposure Therapy, T-CBT, DBT, Psychedelics, and other therapeutic processes
7. Collaborative practices and ongoing systemic justice
8. Vicarious Trauma and the Wounded Healer
9. Meaning making out of your work: the Role of Existential Theory

Training Details​

  • Dates: August 11th- 15th, 2025

    • Monday-Friday 4 full days (9-4 pm)

  • Location: The Calgary Therapy Institute 

  • Cost: $2500 for the full week (a $1000 deposit required to register by December 31st) to hold your space and final payment due by August 1st, 2025
