Sean Burdette

Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology

My Story

Sean holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Psychology from the University of Guelph. He is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

Sean works with adults and adolescents experiencing Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), anxiety, depression, and concerns related to men’s mental health. His approach is grounded primarily in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), while incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), existential psychotherapy, and mindfulness-based approaches when appropriate. He also has doctoral-level training in psychological assessment and psychometrics. He has a particular interest in using evidence-based assessment tools to better understand how individuals think, learn, and function.

Sean believes in a goal-oriented, collaborative approach to therapy, where treatment is tailored to the needs and preferences of his clients. He takes time to understand how a client’s difficulties developed and what may be maintaining them, then works collaboratively to develop practical strategies for creating meaningful change. He values authenticity, transparency, and humour in the therapeutic relationship.
Outside of work, Sean enjoys collecting and restoring wristwatches, kayaking, hiking, skiing, spending time outdoors, and connecting with friends and family.
